Now -
England, Devon!
July
10th - Fly to Panama City, Panama. I
imagine I will be in Panama for about 3 weeks as it will take me a couple of
weeks at least to find a suitable motorbike and surf stick. I will be
travelling around as much as possible on busses etc... until the bike of my
dreams materialises. I will probably go to San Blas in first week by bus, then
head to West coast, Santa Catalina for surf then up and over the mountains and
rain forest to Bocas Del Toro for Caribbean heaven and heavy surf!!!
August 1st -
Cross the border into Costa Rica. I still haven't researched Costa Rica yet however I have
heard this is the most expensive country in CA and fairly well taken over by
the Americans! There are stacks of good surfs spots on both Caribbean and
Pacific coasts, the names I have been recommended are Pavones and Santa Teresa
but there are loads more to be found. I am hoping my dad is going to come and visit for 10 days or so. I am
looking forward to getting him out of his comfort zone... I may even teach him
to swim/float??!!!
August
15th - Cross the border into Nicaragua. I hope
to get 3 weeks here. Most un-developed country in CA with amazing and totally
untouched surfing potential along the West coast! I need to do more research as
to where I'm going but on the whole I think I will be hanging out, going slowly
up the West coast.
September
5th - Cross border into Honduras. Only
really riding through Honduras... I've heard it is expensive and the most
dangerous country on my route. Also the coast line is tiny so no point hanging
around!
September
8th - Cross border into El Salvador. Surf
country! This is the land of the right hand point break... I will be mostly in
the water for two weeks here!!! In my prep for this trip I met an amazing
lady called Adriana who works in Specsavers, Exeter but is from San Salvador...
She has been incredibly kind, lending me her guide books, taking the time to
recommend places to go and even arranging for me to stay with her family when I
get to San Salvador... I am extremely grateful for her generosity and for help
getting my eyes tested! Awesome Act of random kindness!
September
22nd - Cross border into Guatemala. I aim
to get in-land for a fair bit of time and do some trekking around volcanoes and
ruins in the jungle. I have also heard really good things about Belize and the
Yucatan in Mexico so may take the time to ride East through Guatemala into
Belize and Mexico before heading back to the waves on the SW coast.
October
6th - Cross border into Mexico. I hope
to spend one or two weeks in Oaxaca which is in the SouthWest. There is a beach
called Barra Del La Cruz which hosts one of the best right hand point breaks in
the world... I will stay there for a week or so (depending on swell) before
heading up the West coast to Mazatlan to get a ferry to Baja pennisula. This
part will involve some serious bum numbing miles but it will be an EPIC ride!!!
With a bit of luck mon petite British chums, James and Becks will be joining me
on hired bikes for this section of the trip... make it happen!
October
20th - Baja Pennisula. Miles
of sand surf and no people... wild man country! I'm gonna be sat in me pants
with a tea towel on my head talking to coconuts here so probably best to stay
away!
October
27th - Cross border into California. I will
cruise up the West coast, via San Diego, LA where I have arranged to stay with
a friend called Laurence. I was thinking I will try to sell the bike in LA
because it will be easier with the help of a local and then bus on to San Fran,
however... I might not stay in LA for long as I've heard it's not that nice and
I would love to see Yosemite National Park which is not far from San Francisco
and would be best to do on the bike... Sooo I might keep the bike and end up
riding North from LA to San Jose and San Fran then putting an advert up for the
bike and riding out to Yosemite for a couple of days and then back to San
Francisco for a week of selling the bike and cleaning myself up before flying
home?!!
Aiming
to be in San Francisco around the wknd of the 8th / 9th of November... Jules
will be there around that time with work and there is a possibility that Skye
will fly out with her. Hopefully take in Yosemite National Park and a messy
wknd in San Fran to get me ready for the return to normality.
November
17th - Fly Home, San Francisco to Heathrow
